Need an Optometrist in a busy Ophthalmologist office with the latest technology

Specialized in Low Vision Rehabilitation and Dry Eye management

New graduates welcome – Part-time or Full-time – 2 locations – on shared basis

Job Types: Permanent, Part-time, Full-time

Salary: $180,000.00 – $240,000.00 per year

Schedule: Day shift / Evenings / Morning shift

Work Location: In person

Licensed Optician – Part-time / Full-Time

Tasks : 

– Assist patients to choose eyeglass frames, contact lens and ophthalmic lens options appropriate to the lens prescription.

– Provides and ensures prompt, accurate and courteous service.

– Accurately measures members for pupillary distance (PD) using a pupilometer or ruler.

– Proficient in determining placement of multi-focal heights and bifocal heights.

– Examines member’s eye using a slit lamp to assess the general ocular health and assist in the fitting of contact lenses.

– Keys order into computer. Places special orders to outside vendors by telephone.

– Rings up orders for over-the-counter optical merchandise and processes payments using proper cash handling procedures for paperwork, change, cheques, and credit or debit charges.

– Checks contact lenses and completed eyeglasses against prescription. Fits and adjusts eyeglasses to the member using a frame warmer and bending with fingers.

– Orders equipment, merchandise and supplies by keying into computer. Keys receipt of special orders from outside vendors. Follows safety and security procedures.

– Stocks optical merchandise and supplies. Follows department procedures and standards for production, record keeping, sales, eye health merchandising and product storage.

– Maintains proper levels of Contact lens trials.

– Maintains licensing requirements to ensure membership in provincial order is in good standing

Salary: $53,712.00-$56,443.00 per year

Ophthalmic Assistant / Technician

Ophthalmic examination, diagnostics, and assisting treatment procedures and along with clerical, front desk, and administrative functions
Tasks : 

– Ophthalmic workup/patient screening/testing, History, Visual Acuity including EDTRS, Low vision assessment, IOP Assessment, Color Vision, Instilling drops, etc.

– Accurately performing diagnostic testing: Fundus Photography, VF, Micro perimetry, OCT, Macular Integrity assessments, B Scan, UBM, Digital Fundus photography, PAM, ERG, Dry Eye Diagnostics, Contrast Sensitivity testing, Digital Gonioscopy.

– Assisting in dry eye treatments, lasers, ocular aesthetics, and other office minor procedures

– Communicating with patients and other healthcare professionals, front desk duties


– 2+ years of previous experience as an ophthalmic assistant/technician

– Completion of your AAO/COA is an asset;

Salary: $35,000.00-$47,216.00 per year

Receptionist Front Desk – Part-time 

Job Description

Attend to patients on the phone and in person. Coordinate and organize appointments and documentation to facilitate the smooth running of the healthcare environment and support the delivery of quality patient care.

Main Job Duties and Responsibilities

– Greet patients

– Register patients according to established protocols

– Assist patients in completing all necessary forms and documentation, including medical insurance

– Ensure patient information is accurate, including billing information

– Inform patients of medical office procedures and policy

– Maintain and manage patient records

– Move patients through appointments as scheduled

– Answer incoming calls and deal with inquiries

– Transfer calls as required

– Schedule patient appointments

– Collect co-pays and payments

– Report statistics as required

– Schedule outside appointments for patients

– Obtain external medical reports as required by medical professionals

– Respond and comply with requests for information

– Deal with incoming and outgoing post

– Complete other clerical duties as assigned

– Maintain stock of forms and office supplies

– Ensure the reception area is well-maintained, neat, and clean

– Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality

Voluntary positions are also available for those looking to volunteer to help or want to pursue careers in Ophthalmology/optometry soon or get trained to be eligible for JHAPCO certification.

Volunteer positions are available at the main location of Calgary Eye Specialist Clinic, Deerfoot City Mall #4154, 901 64 Ave NE.

Volunteers completing the tenure may be eligible for employment opportunities dependent on the requirement and their performance.
